Daily life

  • Pharaoh - the political religious leader of the Egyptian people, holding the titles: 'lord of the Two Lands' and High Priest of Every Temple 
  • Government official Nobles Priests
  • Soldiers- used wooden weapons(bow&arrows, spears)w/bronze tips and might ride chariots
  • Scribes -  kept record, told stories, wrote poetry described anatomy, and medical treatments
  • Merchants - use money/barter system - merchants might accept bags of grain for payment - later coinage came about
  • Artisans - would carve statues and reliefs showing military battles and scenes in the afterlife 
  • Farmers - raised wheat, barley, lentils, onions - benitted from irrigationof the Nile
  • Slaves and Servants - help the wealthy with household and ehildraisisg duties  
  • Hatshepsut was a woman who served as pharaoh
  • cleopatra VII also served as pharao, but much later(51 -30B.C) more on her when we study Greece 
Goddesses and God
  • over 2000 goddesses and god 
  • they "controlled" the lives of human

Geography

  • Egyptian life is centered around the Nile River
  • The Nile River start from south to North
  • water for drinking, irrigation, bathing and transportation
  • every July it floods
  • every October it leaves behind rich soil 
  • the delta is a broad, marshy triangular area of fertile silt
  • managing the river required technological breakingthroughs in irrigation
Pyramids

  • the Great sphinx of Giza 
  • built 1555 - 2532 B.C
  • a recumbent lion with a human's head
  • the oldest monumental statue in the world

We have a test today and I think I did really bad. I did review last night use Chris' blog because mine have nothing. The most of things I had review were not in the test, so I think I did pretty bad.

Today we continue watch the video: Guns, Germs, and Steel. And we took some note.
There are 14 domesticated animal - goats,sheep,pigs, cows, horse, donkey, bacrian camels, arbian camels, llamas, reindeer, yaks, mithons and balie cattle.
